Cat Klostermann tops a ballot, this time staking claim to Dominican University's 2017Â
Female Athlete of the Year Award. The honor comes just weeks after the Stars' rookie was named the university's 2017Â
Freshman of the Year.

In her first season with the Dominican University softball program, Klostermann dominated in the circle, posting a 12-4 record with a 1.47 earned run average in 119.1 innings over 23 appearances. Following the season, the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) named the Oak Brook native the league'sÂ
Freshman of the Year and voted her to the All-NACC First Team. The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) then recognized the Stars' standout with a spot on the All-Great Lakes Region Second Team.

On the year, Klostermann limited opposing hitters to a .232 batting average against while racking up 85 strikeouts and surrendering just 35 walks. From April 19

th, Klostermann posted a 6-0 record in the circle with one save in the circle with a 0.97 earned run average to help the Stars forge into the 2017 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament as the fifth-seed, winning ten of their final 12 games of the regular season.
