Pamukov Lifts Stars Past St. Norbert

River Forest, IL - In a rematch of the second round game of the 2006 NCAA Division III National Tournament, the Dominican University Stars traveled to DePere, Wis. on Sunday to take on the St. Norbert College Green Knights. Dominican's Plamen Pamukov (Addison, IL) netted the game's only two goals to lift the Stars to a 2-0 victory.

Pamukov, a 2006 D3Kicks.com 2006 Second Team All-American selection, gave the Stars a 1-0 advantage in the in the 63rd minute as he beat the St. Norbert goalkeeper with assists from Matt Kochanowski (Arlington Heights, IL) and Juan Saldana (O'Fallon, MO) on the play.

The score remained 1-0 in the Stars' favor into the 86th minute when Pamukov tallied his fifth score of the week, after notching his first career hat trick in the Stars' 3-1 win over Wisconsin Lutheran earlier in the week. Kochanowski picked up his second assist of the game on the play and his team-leading 12th assist of the season.

Dominican University goalkeeper Piotr Sliwa (Chicago, IL) logged one save on the day to pick up his 12th victory and seventh shutout of the season. The 6'1" junior now has a 0.48 goals against average on the 2007 campaign with just seven goals allowed in the Stars' 15 games.

Dominican returns to action on Wednesday, hosting neighborhood rival Concordia University Chicago for a 3:00 p.m. game in Northern Athletics Conference action. The Stars then wrap up the 2007 regular season home schedule with an 11:00 a.m. match against MSOE on Saturday.
