Oct. 18, 2007

Box Score

River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University women's soccer team picked up its second straight non-conference win with a 3-2 win over the Lake Forest College Foresters in double-overtime on Wednesday afternoon. The win pushes the Stars' overall mark to 8-6-0 on the season with four regular season matches remaining before the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Tournament opens play on October 30.

Anna Rudel (Chicago, IL) gave the Stars a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute, scoring her fifth goal of the season. Freshman Kelsy Holloway (Cape Girardeau, MO) added her third goal of the 2007 campaign in the 63rd minute to give the Stars a 2-0 advantage. However, Lake Forest stormed back with two goals of its own to knot the game at 2-2.

The game remained tied into the 103rd minute when the Stars' leading scorer, Mayra Camacho (Summit, IL) tallied her 16th goal of the season.

Despite being outshot by a 29-10 margin, the Stars escaped with the victory thanks in large part to a very efficient offensive attack. Of the Stars 10 shots, five were shots on goal and three of those were goals, making the most of every scoring opportunity.

After back-to-back non-conference victories, the Stars return to NAC play on Saturday as they host MSOE for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff on Dominican's West Campus Field. The game is a battle for third place in the conference standings. Currently, MSOE sits in sole possession of third place with a conference record of 6-2-1, percentage points higher than the Stars at 6-3-0.
