Despite falling behind 1-0 to the Alverno College Inferno in the first eight minutes yesterday, the Dominican University Stars emerged with an 11-2 victory in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) action.
Junior forward Mayra Camacho (Summit, IL) led the way for the Stars with four goals and an assist to improve her season totals to 21 goals and 11 assists in 17 games. Camacho netted what proved to be the game-winner in the 30th minute to put the Stars ahead 3-1.
Freshmen Rosa Andreuccetti (Elmhurst, IL) and Catherine Petty (Crystal Lake, IL) each notched a pair of goals while Michelle Reynoso (Burbank, IL), Kelsy Holloway (Cape Girardeau, MO) and Rebecca Markey (Omaha, NE) each logged one goal for the Stars in the winning effort.
With the win the Stars improved their overall record to 10-7-0 and their conference mark to 8-3-0 with one regular season NAC contest remaining before the NAC Women's Soccer Tournament opens play next week. Currently, Dominican sits idle in third place, in line to host a NAC tournament first round match up on Tuesday, October 30.
