The Dominican University volleyball program fell short of the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) tournament as the Stars' dropped to 4-8 in NAC play with a 3-0 (30-25, 30-20, 30-25) loss to Rockford College on Wednesday night. The Stars finished the conference regular season in a three-way tie for ninth place.
Sophomore Anka Niemczewska (Vernon Hills, IL) and freshman Kasey Kiepura (Vernon Hills, IL) led the Stars' offense while sophomore libero Megan Moore (Glendale Heights, IL) paced the Stars' defense. Niemczewska tallied 20 assists on the night while Kiepura totaled eight kills on 21 total attacks, posting a .286 hitting percentage in the losing effort. Moore, ranked tenth in the conference in digs per game, logged a game-high 20 digs for the Stars.
The Stars will wrap up the 2007 season at Calumet College this Saturday. The Stars will play three matches on the day, starting with Urbana College at 9:00 a.m. Dominican will then play Goshen College at 11:30 a.m. and then bring the season to a close against Calumet College at 2:00 p.m. To date this season, the Stars have improved their winning percentage from the 2006 season by over 300 percent, currently holding an overall record of 8-18 on the season.
