The Dominican University men's basketball team improved to 2-2 on the young season with a 57-49 victory over the Eureka College Red Devils at Eureka's Reagan Center on Wednesday night. The Stars trailed 28-25 after the break, but outscored the Red Devils 32-21 in the second frame to capture their third straight victory over Eureka and the Stars' fourth win in the last five games the two teams have played.
Dan Borys (Crown Point, IN) scored ten of his team-high 11 points for the Stars in the second half, going 4-for-4 from the field and two-for-two from the free throw stripe while grabbing four rebounds, three offensive, over the game's final twenty minutes.
Defensively the Stars held the Red Devils to 29.7 percent shooting from the field and 21.4 percent shooting from behind the three-point line. In the second half, Eureka managed to convert on just seven of 27 field goal attempts, including just two of its 14 three-point attempts.
Dominican opens Northern Athletics Conference action on Saturday as they travel to Aurora University. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. in Aurora's Thornton Gymnasium.
