The Dominican University women's basketball team fell 78-76 at Aurora University on Saturday in a contest that featured 10 ties and five lead changes.
Sophomore Lisa Julkowski (Chicago, IL) poured in a game-high 22 points in the losing effort. Julkowski shot 7-for-12 from the field, including 5-for-7 from behind the three-point stripe, and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line in 35 minutes of play. The offensive outburst was a career-high for Julkowski. In fact, the 5'7" guard had been averaging just 8.0 points per game heading into Saturday and she had been shooting just over 29 percent from the field and had connected on just two of 28 three-point field goal attempts.
In addition to Julkowski, sophomore Jessica Salinas (Bolingbrook, IL) chipped in 20 points and junior Lindsey Trent (Frankfort, IN) added 19 points for the Stars. As a team, Dominican was red-hot from the field in the second half, shooting over 54 percent from the field and over 66 percent from three. However, the Stars turned the ball over a season-high 33 times.
The loss was the Stars' sixth loss of the season, dropping the Stars to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the Northern Athletics Conference. On the season, Dominican has lost four games by fewer than six points including a 63-60 loss at Rockford in the conference season opener last Thursday. The Stars will return to the court on Thursday as they host Moody Bible Institute for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff in Dominican's Igini Sports Forum.
