Turley Lifts Stars Past Neighborhood Rival

River Forest, IL - The Dominican University Stars topped neighborhood and Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) rival Concordia University Chicago 95-81 in a double-overtime thriller on Tuesday night.

The Stars enjoyed two eight-point leads in the first half but found themselves trailing 55-41 with under 11 minutes to play in the second half. The Stars then broke out on a 25-11 spanning ten minutes and capped by a Jovan Turley three-point field goal, his fourth three of the night, sending the game to overtime with the score knotted at 66-66.

The Stars and Cougars could not break the tie through the first overtime, with each team scoring eight points in the five-minute period and sending the game into a second overtime with the score tied at 74-74. The Stars then exploded for 21 points in the second overtime while holding the Cougars to just seven points to emerge with Dominican's first win in NAC play this season.

Turley led Dominican in scoring, pouring in a career-high 21 points in the 6'1" sophomore's fourth game of the season. Turley went 7-for-13 from the field to pace the Stars' offense, including 6-for-9 from behind the three-point stripe, in 34 minutes.

Senior Jose Garcia (Kenosha, WI) added 17 points for the Stars, connecting on all seven of his trips to the free throw line, including going 6-for-6 from the charity stripe in the two overtimes. Juniors Dan Borys (Crown Point, IN) and Kyle Tipton (Milwaukee, WI) 12 points and 11 points respectively for the Stars in the winning effort.

Concordia was paced by Justin Gray's game-high 33 points. Gray was 9-for-17 from the field and converted on 12 of his 16 attempts from the free throw line.

Dominican climbed to .500 with the win, standing at 3-3 on the season and 1-1 in the NAC. The Stars travel to Wisconsin Lutheran College this Saturday to the Take on the WLC Warriors. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. in WLC's REX.
