Kochanowski's two goals lifts Stars past Central Region rival Wheaton

River Forest, IL - The Dominican University men's soccer team improved to 3-2-0 on the season with a 2-1 victory on the road at Wheaton College's Joe Bean Stadium. Junior Matt Kochanowski provided all the offense the Stars would need, tallying his second score of the night in the 57th minute to propel the Stars past the Thunder.

Dominican notched the first goal of the night in the 29th minute as sophomore forward Mark Golik was taken down inside the Thunder box and the Stars were awarded a penalty kick. Kochanowski stepped up and beat the Thunder goalkeeper to give the Stars a 1-0 advantage. Wheaton knotted the score at 1-1 in the 38th minute and the score remained tied until Kochanowski tallied the game-winner just 12 minutes into the second frame.

Wheaton held a 13-8 advantage in shots and 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. Dominican University goalkeeper Piotr Sliwa logged five saves on the night, picking up his third win in goal for the Stars this season.

The Stars remained undefeated against the Wheaton College men's soccer program, holding a 3-0-0 advantage over the Thunder in the brief rival of the two Central Region teams dating back to 2003.
