Camacho's Second Half Goal Lifts Stars Past Benedictine

River Forest, IL - The Dominican University women's soccer team improved to 3-3-0 overall and a perfect 3-0-0 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) with a 1-0 win over Benedictine University at the Sports Complex in Lisle on Tuesday night. Junior forward Mayra Camacho (Summit, IL) tallied the lone score of the game in the 57th minute to lift the Stars to the victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jacqui Lani picked up her second shutout of the season, logging seven saves in goal for the Stars. The shutout was Dominican's third-straight shutout victory and the Stars have not been scored upon in 270 minutes of play over three games in NAC play.

It was a tight match throughout the evening with the Stars holding a slight advantage in shots, 15-13, and Benedictine holding a slight advantage in shots on goal, 9-8, and corner kicks, 8-6.

The Stars will look to build on its recent three-game winning streak when they travel to Lakeland College on Saturday in NAC action. Kickoff in that game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Sheboygan, Wis.
