The Dominican University men's basketball team has put together its first three-game winning streak of the season, after knocking off Rockford College 90-57 on the road Tuesday evening.
Junior Kyle Tipton (Milwaukee, WI) logged his first career double-double as he posted game-highs in points and rebounds with 18 and 11. Tipton, a 6'4" forward, scored 14 points in the second half, going 5-for-7 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line as he played in just nine minutes of the second frame.
Five other players scored in double-figures for the Stars, led by junior Andre Smith (Cleveland, OH) who scored 16 in the winning effort on 8-for-9 shooting from the field with three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Mike Haiduc (Chicago, IL) added 13 points and Dan Borys (Crown Point, IN) chipped in 12 while Jose Garcia (Kenosha, WI) and Kendall Moore (Orland Hills, IL) scored 11 points apiece for Dominican.
With the win, the Stars' now stand at 7-8 on the season and 4-4 in the Northern Athletics Conference with ten games remaining before the NAC Men's Basketball Tournament. The Stars will look to push their current win streak to 4 games on Saturday as they host Concordia University (WI). Tipoff is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. in Dominican's Igini Sports Forum.
