Men's Soccer Trounces Cougars

River Forest, IL - The Dominican University men's soccer team traveled down Division Street to take on neighborhood rival Concordia University Chicago and rolled over the Cougars 8-0 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) showdown.

Sophomore Michael Kapusta (Bartlett, IL) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in just the sixth minute of play as the Stars stuffed the stat sheet, logging 49 shots, 28 on goal, and eight corner kicks on the afternoon. Kapusta scored a pair of goals in each half and now has seven on the season.

Plamen Pamukov (Addison, IL) the Stars' second-leading goal scorer on the season, added a pair of goals and now has 12 on the season while Juan Saldana (Foristell, MO) and Reed Parker (Overland Park, KS) each tallied a score for the Stars in the winning effort.

Dominican's leading goal scorer, Matt Kochanowski (Arlington Heights, IL), did not score a goal in the contest but did pick up a pair of assists. Kochanowski now has a total of 33 points on the season with 13 goals and seven assists.

Goalkeepers Miguel Mondragon (Broadview, IL), Maxwell Gutbrod (Slinger, WI) and Jon Emerson (Naperville, IL) combined to pick up the Stars' ninth shutout win of the season.

Dominican now stands at 12-2-0 on the season and are a perfect 10-0-0 in the NAC, having secured the top spot in the NAC Tournament for the third straight season. The Stars will travel to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
