Men's Soccer Triumphant Over Millikin

River Forest, IL - The Dominican University men's soccer team picked up their 12th straight win and 14th win of the season as they toppled Millikin University 4-0 on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Stars broke a scoreless tie in the 40th minute as freshman Aaron Romo (Chicago, IL) pushed a header past the Millikin goalkeeper off service from Juan Saldana (Foristell, MO), who picked up his tenth assist of the season on the play. The goal was Romo's third of the season and proved to be the game-winner.

Sophomore Michael Kapusta (Bartlett, IL) put the Stars ahead in the 41st minute as he scored an unassisted goal. Kapusta now has eight goals on the season, five coming in the Stars' last three games.

Dominican's offense did not find the back of the net again until the 84th minute when Matt Kochanowski (Arlington Heights, IL) beat the Millikin goalkeeper for his team-leading 14th goal of the season. Junior Stan Micic (Mt. Prospect, IL) picked up his fifth assist of the season on the play.

Just over two minutes later Dominican's Edwin Lagunas (Waukegan, IL) extended the Stars' lead to 4-0. Lagunas, a 5'10" freshman, now has eight goals on the season to go along with a team-best 11 assists.

The Stars defense held Millikin to just one shot in the game, as Dominican outshot Millikin 27-1 and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Stars are now 14-2-0 on the season and will go in search of the program's 310th win all-time as they travel to Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., on Friday night. Since the program's inception in 1988, Dominican's soccer program boasts a .720 winning percentage with 309 wins in 445 career games with just 113 losses and 23 ties.
