The Dominican University men's soccer team picked up their 310th win all-time as they topped St. Norbert College 5-2 in a non-conference matchup on Sunday afternoon.
The Stars took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute as senior Plamen Pamukov (Addison, IL) logged his 14th goal of the season with assists from freshman Edwin Lagunas (Waukegan, IL) and Matt Kochanowski (Arlington Heights, IL). Kochanowski then extended the Stars' lead to 2-0 with his team-leading 15th goal of the season again with an assist from Lagunas and senior Rigoberto Barajas (Cicero, IL).
The Stars added three goals to take a 5-0 lead with over 30 minutes to play. The first came in the 31st minute on freshman Lionel Tovar's eighth score of the season and then Michael Kapusta (Bartlett, IL) tallied his 10th goal of the season on a direct kick in the 49th minute before Barajas notched his second goal of the season in the 60th minute.
St. Norbert scored the final two goals of the game, the first in the 61st minute of play and the second in the 90th minute with just over ten seconds to play.
The Stars, now 15-2-1 on the season, outshot the Green Knights 14-7 in the game, 9-1 in the first half, and held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks. Dominican will close out the regular season on Wednesday, as they host Benedictine University for a 3:00 p.m. game on Dominican's West Campus Field. In that match, the Stars will be looking to remain unbeaten in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) and have already secured the top spot in the upcoming NAC Tournament.
