Women's Soccer Advances to NAC Semifinals

River Forest, IL - The Dominican University women's soccer team advanced to the semifinal round of the 2008 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Women's Soccer Tournament with a 1-0 victory over the MSOE Raiders on Sunday afternoon. The lone score of the game came in the second minute of play off the foot of freshman Nallely Arreola (Wheeling, IL), who scored her ninth goal of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Jacqui Lani (Green Bay, WI) picked up her sixth shutout of the season, logging three saves in goal for the Stars. The shutout was the Stars' third straight shutout and ninth shutout of the season against NAC opponents.

Dominican outshot the Raiders 11-9 on the afternoon with the Stars putting four shots on frame to the Raiders three shots on goal. The Stars also held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks in the contest.

The win improved the Stars overall record to 13-6-1, and they will now travel to Madison, WI to take on the Edgewood College Eagles in the semifinals of the NAC Tournament. The Stars outlasted the Eagles 1-0 in the pair's regular season meeting this season at Dominican on September 27. The winner of that contest will advance to the 2008 NAC Tournament Championship contest to be held next Saturday, November 8 at the highest remaining seed.
