Second Half Comeback Falls Short As Stars Fall to SNC

River Forest, IL - The Dominican University men's basketball team trailed by as many as 24 points in the first half but the Stars came out firing in the second half, converting on their first 14 possessions to narrow the gap, but came up short in their comeback effort against the St. Norbert Green Knights on Tuesday night 77-68.

The Stars managed to shoot just 35 percent in the first half but shot nearly 74 percent from the field in the second half, going 17-for-23 and 6-for-10 from three, to score 46 points over the game's final 20 minutes. The Stars went on a 19-10 run, capped by a lay in by freshman Darrius Nelson (Michigan City, IN), over the first nine minutes to pull within 11 points after trailing 42-22 at the break.

Nelson logged his second double-digit scoring effort of the season, chipping in 11 in the losing effort while Kyle Tipton (Milwaukee, WI) scored a team-high 19 points, 16 in the second half, and Jovan Turley (Grand Rapids, MI) added 16 points.

The Stars now stand at 1-4 on the season and will travel to Lake Forest College on Saturday to take on the Forresters. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
