Borys Scores 21 As Stars Spear Sabres In NAC Play

River Forest, IL - The Dominican University Stars opened a 19-point lead in the opening minutes of a 78-68 win over the Marian University Sabres in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) action on Saturday evening. Dan Borys (Crown Point, IN) ignited a 25-6 run with a lay-in on the Stars' second possession and Dominican never looked back as they improved to 3-5 on the young season and 1-2 in the NAC.

Borys scored 21 points in the winning effort, the 6'4" senior's third-straight 20-plus point performance. Borys 8-for-16 from the field in the game, including a 5-for-8 start as he poured in 14 first-half points. Borys is now averaging 16.5 points per game while shooting over 48 percent from the field and a touch under 70 percent from the free throw line.

Marvin Jeter (Lynwood, IL) added a career-high 14 points and grabbed six rebounds while Jovan Turley (Grand Rapids, MI) and freshman Andre Lockett (Lynwood, IL) rounded out the Stars in double-figures, logging 12 points and 10 points respectively.

As a team, Dominican forced a season-high 20 turnovers on defense while shooting 46 percent from the field on the offensive end of the floor and converting on 16 of the team's 19 trips to the foul line.

The Stars will now travel to Miami, Fla., to take on Johnson & Wales University on December 16 and St. Thomas University (Fla.) on December 18 and then return to home to host the Rose-Hulman Engineers on Saturday, January 3 to close out the non-conference portion of the 2008-2009 schedule.
