River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University women's basketball team closed out the 2007-2008 season with a 59-47 win over the MSOE Raiders on Saturday afternoon, picking up the program's ninth win of the season under first-year head coach Mike Lane, equaling the total number of wins for the program during the previous two seasons combined.

On Saturday, the Stars overpowered the Raiders on defense, holding MSOE to just 27 percent shooting from the field and blocking 18 shots as a team, a Dominican University single-game record.

Leading the Stars defensive barrage was a trio of underclassmen led by 5'10" freshman Megan Molloy (Chicago, IL) who posted a season-high 8 blocks while grabbing 10 rebounds, seven on the defensive end of the floor. Sophomores Lisa Julkowski (Chicago, IL) and Jessica Salinas (Bolingbrook, IL) logged four blocks apiece with Julkowski recording a game-high five steals and Salinas grabbing 16 rebounds, ten defensive.

Offensively, the Stars starting unit of Julkowski, Salinas, Lindsey Trent (Frankfort, IN), Wioleta Koziol (Mt. Prospect, IL) and Molloy scored 53 of the team's 59 points in the game. Julkowski paced the offensive effort with 13 points, converting on nine of her 11 trips to the free throw line. Salinas added 12 points and Trent 11 with Koziol and Molloy contributing nine points and eight points respectively. Sophomore forward Crystal Gant (Bolingbrook, IL) came off the Stars' bench to score six points in 10 minutes of work.

The Stars began the season with just one win in their first 12 games of the season but went 8-5 over their final 13 games to finish the season with a 9-16 overall record, going 7-11 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC), finishing the season in ninth place in the league.
