The Dominican University men's soccer team, without the services of All-American forward Matt Kochanowski (Arlington Heights, IL), fell 1-0 at the hands of the Wheaton College Thunder on Wednesday afternoon. The Thunder's Joel DeLass tallied the game's lone score in the 13th minute of play.
After being outshot 10-5 in the first half of play, the Stars turned up the offensive pressure in the second half, pressing forward for seven shots. On the day, the Thunder outshot the Stars 16-12 and put seven shots on goal, compared to just two shots on goal for the Stars.
The loss Wednesday coupled with a 1-0 loss at the hands of North Park University on Saturday, marked the first back-to-back home losses for the Dominican program since opening play on their West Campus Field in September 2002.
Dominican will return to Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) action, after back-to-back non-conference losses, on Saturday as they travel to Fon du Lac, Wis., to take on the Marian College Sabres. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
