Dominican University's Matt Kochanowski (Arlington Heights, IL) returned to the Stars' men's soccer line up this week to score four goals including three goals in a 4-1 win over Edgewood College on Saturday.
Michael Kapusta (Bartlett, IL) took advantage of a direct kick just outside the top of the box in the 14th minute to give the Stars a 1-0 lead on Saturday. Kapusta's tally that beat the Edgewood keeper just inside the near post, was set up by an Edgewood foul that brought down sophomore midfielder Edwin Rodriguez (Chicago, IL) as he penetrated the Eagles' defense with the ball on his foot.
Less than three minutes later, Kochanowski notched the first of his three tallies, all coming in the first half to give the Stars a 4-0 advantage at the break.
The Stars dominated possession in the first half, outshooting the Eagles 11-0 with seven shots on goal.
The score remained 4-0 all the way until the 87th minute when the Eagles recorded their lone goal of the game on a penalty kick with just over three minutes remaining in the contest.
The score was the first goal surrendered by the Stars in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play this season and just the third score against the Stars this season. Dominican now boasts a 7-2-0 overall record and are a perfect 6-0-0 in the NAC. In fact, since the conference's inception in 2006, the Stars are unbeaten in 25 consecutive games, posting a 24-0-1 record over the last two-plus seasons. The Stars will travel to Aurora on Tuesday to take on the Aurora University Spartans. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
