The Northern Athletics Conference has announced the All-NAC Men’s Tennis Awards for the 2012 season, and doubles champions Kevin Amarantos and Greg Tabaka were each honored as members of the All-NAC singles and doubles teams for the second year in a row.
The duo went 15-2 this season at No. 1 doubles, including an 8-1 record in NAC play. They also finished the season having won each of their last five matches en route to the 2012 NAC Men’s Doubles crown.
Kevin Amarantos (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey), last year’s NAC Freshman of the Year, earned his second consecutive spot on the All-NAC singles team with a fifth place finish in the NAC Men’s Singles Championship. Dominican’s No. 1 singles player, Amarantos went 9-7 overall and 5-4 in NAC matches.
Greg Tabaka (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) also earned his second consecutive spot on the All-NAC singles team after compiling a 9-5 record overall and 7-2 record in NAC play at No. 2 singles.
The conference also acknowledged the All-Sportsmanship team honorees. The team included one student-athlete from each school that was chosen based on the principles of sportsmanship as promoted by the NAC and NCAA, and Dominican’s All-Sportsmanship member was
Mohit Shekhar (Burbank, Ill./Reavis).
