The Dominican University men's tennis team closed out the 2017-2018 regular season on Saturday splitting a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) dual matches to earn fourth place in the conference and the right to host a NACC Tournament quarterfinal match on Tuesday. The Stars took the morning match, 7-2, from the Marian University Sabres before falling to the Edgewood College Eagles, 7-2, in the regular season finale.
The Stars number two and three doubles team started the day with wins over the Sabres to give Dominican a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.

Josh Sapnu then sealed the win, picking up points at numbers one, three, four, five and six singles respectively.
Antonio Morales nearly completed a singles sweep for the Stars, dropping a nail-biter, 6-4, 3-6, 12-10, to Joey Dittman at number two singles.
The Stars number three doubles team of Morales and Sapnu stayed hot for Dominican, topping Edgewood's Ricky Thaden and Zhen Lee, 8-2, to score Dominican's lone doubles' point before Lally knocked off Thaden at number five singles, 6-2, 6-2. Dominican could not manage any other points against the Eagles.
With the split, the Stars move to 7-6 on the season and 5-3 in the NACC. Dominican will host the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the conference tournament quarterfinals. The winner advances to the NACC semifinals to be played on Sunday, May 6, at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin.
