Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Stars Split NACC Duals

The Dominican University men's tennis team closed out the 2017-2018 regular season on Saturday splitting a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) dual matches to earn fourth place in the conference and the right to host a NACC Tournament quarterfinal match on Tuesday. The Stars took the morning match, 7-2, from the Marian University Sabres before falling to the Edgewood College Eagles, 7-2, in the regular season finale.

The Stars number two and three doubles team started the day with wins over the Sabres to give Dominican a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play. John Mysz, Camden Knights, Tarik Abdullah, Frank Lally and Josh Sapnu then sealed the win, picking up points at numbers one, three, four, five and six singles respectively.  Antonio Morales nearly completed a singles sweep for the Stars, dropping a nail-biter, 6-4, 3-6, 12-10, to Joey Dittman at number two singles.

The Stars number three doubles team of Morales and Sapnu stayed hot for Dominican, topping Edgewood's Ricky Thaden and Zhen Lee, 8-2, to score Dominican's lone doubles' point before Lally knocked off Thaden at number five singles, 6-2, 6-2. Dominican could not manage any other points against the Eagles.

With the split, the Stars move to 7-6 on the season and 5-3 in the NACC. Dominican will host the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the conference tournament quarterfinals.  The winner advances to the NACC semifinals to be played on Sunday, May 6, at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin.
