What was it about Dominican that helped you discover your career goals?
The aspect of Dominican that helped me discover my career goals was the mission statement itself, "pursue truth, to give compassionate service and to participate in the creation of a more just and humane world." That very statement was essential into my decision to double major in criminology and sociology and to pursue a career as a police officer.
How did the small college experience contribute to your development as an athlete and a professional?
I know it's kind of cliché but attending a small university grants a student the luxury of 1-on-1 attention that is not necessarily available at a larger university. It helped me stay focused on the tasks in front of me athletically as well as academically, and now I am able to translate the work ethic that I have developed into my professional career.
Describe for us the luxury of being able to dedicate yourself to your academics and career goals at Dominican, while also dedicating yourself to the game you love:
To sort of piggy back and add on to the previous question, I was able to dedicate myself to academics and athletics first and foremost because of my own will, but additionally because there weren't many distractions and I had a great support group in my family, coaches, professors, teammates and friends. They were great at motivating me and keeping me on track when my "own will" wasn't enough. I couldn't have asked for anything more.
What athletic accomplishments are you most proud of from your time at Dominican (individual or team)?
The athletic accomplishment that I am most proud of during my athletic career at DU is without a doubt being an integral part of helping rebuild the program. As a freshman we won 4 games, sophomore 7 games, junior 13 games, and finally as a senior, we posted the the first back to back winning seasons and most wins of any team since the Rosary College years. Although I would have loved to put a trophy in the case, I am very proud of what my team and I were able to accomplish during my 4 years as a part of the men's basketball team.
