Dominican University Athletics announced the hiring of Jordan Velez as its new Head Men's Golf Coach on July 20, 2021.
Velez comes to DU with familiarity of the Chicagoland area and the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) as a graduate of St. Laurence High School and Benedictine University.
The Chicago-native was an outstanding collegiate golfer at Benedictine, earning the Freshman of the Year Award in the NACC in 2016. He was also twice named to the NACC's First Team and finished as high as fourth-individually at the NACC Championships.
Following graduation, Velez served in a teaching role as a long-term substitute at Nature Ridge Elementary in Elgin, Ill. He also brings experience in personal training and coaching through his position a Leader with Gateway Special Recreation in Burr Ridge, Ill.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Benedictine, graduating in December 2020.
