The Dominican University volleyball program got back on track after suffering their first conference loss on Tuesday night, with a three-set (25-20, 25-15, 25-21) win over the Aurora University Spartans on Friday night in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) action. Senior Darcy Kammeier (Kirkwood, Mo.) and Kasey Kiepura (Vernon Hills, Ill.) paced the Stars offense, combining for 26 of the team’s 44 kills.
Kammeier posted a game-high 16 kills on 29 attacks while committing seven errors while Kiepura added ten kills of her own to go along with four total blocks, one solo and three assists, for a total of 12.5 points. Sophomore setter Jessica Guerrieri (Plainfield, Ill.) dished out 32 assists while freshman Claire Dezelski (Northville, Mich.) tallied nine kills in the winning effort.
Defensively, four Stars reached double-digit dig totals with Liz Yakey (Sun Prairie, Wis.), Dominican’s libero, posting a game-high 14 digs. Dezelski and Guerrieri totaled 12 digs apiece while Kammeier added ten digs to complete the double-double effort.
Dominican returns to action, traveling to NAC front-runner Benedictine University on Saturday. Dominican upended the Benedictine Eagles in non-conference action at the Star Classic back on September 3. Saturday’s match is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. in the Eagles’ Rice Center.
