The Dominican University Stars topped Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) foe and neighborhood rival, Concordia University Chicago, on Tuesday night 3-1 (25-19, 25-23, 20-25, 25-19) in the Igini Sports Forum. The win improves the Stars to 16-5 on the season and 6-1 in NAC play while dropping the Cougars to 9-10 and 3-3 in the NAC.
Dominican’s
Darcy Kammeier (Kirkwood, Mo.) posted a double-double in the winning effort, logging a match-high 13 kills while posting 14 digs.
Jacy Lawrence (St. Louis, Mo.) added 12 kills in the winning effort while sophomore setter
Jessica Guerrieri (Plainfield, Ill.) dished out 36 assists.
Defensively, sophomore libero
Liz Yakey (Sun Prairie, Wis.) posted a game-high 17 digs while Dominican tallied 12 blocks as a team. Senior
Jessica Gallagher had five block assists while
Kasey Kiepura (Vernon Hills, Ill.) and
Marissa Mafuli (Florissant, Mo.) each had four total blocks with one solo block and three block assists apiece.
The Stars will travel to Wisconsin this weekend for a pair of NAC matches. On Friday, Dominican will take on the defending NAC Champions, the Lakeland College Muskies, in Sheboygan before heading to Fon du Lac on Saturday to battle the Marian University Sabres.
