River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University women's volleyball team rebounded from a 25-17 loss in the first set to take a four-set win over the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons (17-25, 26-24, 25-21, 25-22) on Thursday night to earn a trip to the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Women's Volleyball Tournament Championship match.
Dominican's Darcy Kammeier (Kirkwood, Mo.) racked up a match-high 20 kills to pace the Stars offense. Kammeier posted a .288 hitting percentage, committing just five errors on 52 attack attempts. Kammeier also logged a service ace for a total of 21 points on the night.
Freshman Jacy Lawrence (St. Louis, Mo.) posted 11 kills of her own while racking up three block assists and one solo block for a total of 13.5 points while sophomore Evelyn Gamboa (Chicago, Ill.) totaled 10.5 points with nine kills and three block assists.
Defensively, senior libero Megan Moore (Glendale Heights, Ill.) logged a match-high 24 digs while Kammeier wrapped up her third-straight double-double performance with 15 digs. Sophomore Kellie VanVoorhis (LaPorte, Ind.) recorded ten digs and posted four block assists.
The places the Stars in the NAC Championship match for the first time in program history. They will host the Lakeland College Muskies on Saturday for a 7:00 p.m. match in Dominican's Igini Sports Forum. The winner will earn the NAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championships.
