The Dominican University women’s soccer team cruised to an 8-1 win over the Concordia University Chicago Cougars in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) action on Wednesday evening to improve to 2-0-0 in conference and 4-2-0 overall.
After freshman Stephanie Perretta (Alsip, Ill.) notched her first career goal in the tenth minute of play, sophomore Adrienne Ryba (Roselle, Ill.) tallied what proved to be the game-winner less than a minute later, giving the Stars a 2-0 advantage in the 11th minute.
Ryba finished the evening with a pair of goals while Kelly Petty (Crystal Lake, Ill.) logged a hat trick with three goals of her own. Elizabeth Ficek (Bloomington, Ill.) and Kelsy Holloway (Cape Girardeau, Mo.) tallied one goal apiece in the winning effort.
Dominican held a 23-7 advantage in shots and out-cornered the Cougars 6-0.
Megan Schulz (Redford, Mich.) picked up the win in goal for the Stars, improving to 4-2-0 on the year while lowering her goals against average to 1.00 with three saves.
The Stars will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 18, in Fon du Lac, Wis. The Stars will battle the Marian University Sabres with kickoff slated for 2:30 p.m.
