The Dominican University women’s soccer picked up their sixth straight win to improve to 7-2 on the season with a 13-1 drubbing of the Lakeland College Muskies on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Kelly Gerwitz (Florissant, Mo.) led the Stars’ scoring party, tallying three goals on the afternoon and now has five goals on the season, all in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play.
Elizabeth Ficek (Bloomington, Ill.), Adrienne Ryba (Roselle, Ill.) and Ashley Meyer (Evanston, Ill.) scored two goals apiece in the winning effort while Liz Phipps (Bloomington, Ill.), Kelly Petty (Crystal Lake, Ill.), Michelle Reynoso (Burbank, Ill.) and Michelle Yeager (Noblesville, Ind.) rounded out the scoring barrage with one goal apiece. Phipps also logged a team-high three assists on the afternoon.
The Stars dominated every aspect of the contest, ripping 42 shots on the afternoon while surrendering just three shots to the Muskies. The Stars also held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Stars will return to action on Wednesday night with a 7:00 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wis. The Stars will take on the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors under the lights at WLC’s Krause-Miller-Lutz Outdoor Athletic Complex.
