The Dominican University women’s volleyball suffered their first defeat in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play this season, with a 3-2 loss at Concordia University Wisconsin on Tuesday evening. After winning the first two sets in convincing fashion, 25-14, 25-15, the Stars stumbled in the next three sets, 25-22, 25-20, 15-13, to fall to 13-5 on the season and 3-1 in the NAC.
Senior Kasey Kiepura (Vernon Hills, Ill.) posted a .583 hitting percentage in the losing effort, logging 14 kills on 24 attacks while not committing a single error. Darcy Kammeier (Kirkwood, Mo.) and Jacy Lawrence (St. Louis, Mo.) also posted double-digit kills totals with 11 kills apiece.
The Stars return to the court on Friday, hosting the Aurora University Spartans in a NAC matchup and then travel to Benedictine University on Saturday. The Stars, tabbed to win the conference in the preseason coaches’ poll, slipped to a three-way tie for third, behind Benedictine and Edgewood College, both with perfect NAC records at 4-0 and 3-0 respectively.
