Lio Tovar (Cicero, Ill.) goal in the 69th minute proved to be the only offense as the Dominican University men’s soccer team upended the University of Chicago Maroons, ranked fifth in the NSCAA Central Region poll, 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
Tovar collected a loose ball 35 yards out and fired a shot that beat Chicago’s Chris Guisto, a junior goalkeeper. The score was Tovar’s first of the season and 14th of his career.
