Women’s Basketball Downed By WLC

The Dominican University women’s basketball team fell for just the second time in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play, falling on Saturday afternoon to the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors 87-69. Trailing just 71-64 with under five minutes to play behind a season-high 27 points from junior Kayla Blom (Circle Pines, Minn.), the Stars were outscored 16-5 down the stretch to put the game out of reach.
Blom went 10-for-17 from the field to pace the Stars offense while tallying five assists, four rebounds and three steals in the losing effort.
However, Dominican had no answer for the Warriors’ Erika Laete who scored a game-high 32 points, going 15-for-20 from the field while grabbing seven rebounds, four on the offensive end of the floor. As a team, the Warriors held a 38-23 advantage on the glass, including grabbing 12 offensive rebounds to score 15 second chance points.
The Stars return to action on Tuesday, traveling to MSOE to take on the Raiders. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Kern Center.
