Women’s Basketball Remains Unbeaten In NAC

The Dominican University women’s basketball team got back on track Wednesday, after suffering just their second loss of the season on New Year’s Eve, with a 70-59 win over the Alverno College Inferno to move to 11-2 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC).
The Stars raced out to a 44-22 halftime lead behind 16-for-28 shooting from the field, including a 6-for-11 clip from behind the three-point stripe. Junior guard Becky Christofferson (Summit, S.D.) went 3-for-5 from long distance in the opening period, scoring 13 first half points while the Stars held the Inferno to just 26.7 percent shooting.
Dominican opened the second half on an 8-4 run, capped by a Christofferson three, to open a game-high 26-point lead with 17:30 to play and the Stars coasted to their league-best sixth NAC victory of the season.
Dominican finished the night, going 24-for-54 from the field and 10-for-21 from three while Alverno was 21-for-62 from the field and 4-for-14 from three.
Christofferson finished the night with a team-high 20 points while Sarah Budz (Orland Park, Ill.) and Kaminska added 11 points apiece in the winning effort. Kaminska also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for her second double-double in the last three games.
Gabby Allen paced the Inferno with a game-high 22 points to go along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Dominican travels up to Mequon, Wis., on Saturday to take on the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
