Box Score Megan Schulz (Redford, Mich.) made six saves, facing 19 shots on Tuesday afternoon, but the Dominican University Stars came up just short against the Aurora University Spartans, falling 1-0 in overtime to the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) leaders.

Ashley Meyer (Evanston, Ill.) worked her way into the Spartans’ 18-yard box before being taken down by an Aurora defender. However, #Liz Phipps’# (Bloomington, Ill.) ensuing PK sailed just over the cross bar.
Sixteen minutes later in the 36
th minute, freshman Hayley Tyler (Nenana, Alaska) appeared to put the Stars’ ahead 1-0, slipping a ball past the Aurora goalkeeper but a Spartan defender cleared the ball of the goal line to keep the match scoreless into the half.
In the second half, the Spartans flexed their muscles, outshooting the Stars 10-1 in the half. Schulz shined, logging four saves in the second half to keep the Stars in the match and force overtime for the third time in the last five meetings between the teams.
In the overtime it was Aurora’s Jordan Joyce that collected a loose ball 10-yards out and blasted a shot inside the far post.
The loss dropped Dominican to 9-6-1 on the season and 7-2-1 in NAC play while lifting the Spartans to 14-3-0 and 10-0-0 in conference. The Stars will look to rebound on Saturday when they host the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff on Dominican’s West Campus Field.
