Box Score The Dominican University women’s soccer team improved to 6-1-1 in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play on Saturday afternoon, topping the Lakeland College Muskies 5-0 in Sheboygan, Wis.
The Stars got on the board early, as
Kelly Gerwitz (Florissant, Mo.) got on the end of a corner kick from teammate
Liz Phipps (Bloomington, Ill.) in the tenth minute to net what proved to be the eventual game-winner.
Ashley Meyer (Evanston, Ill.) then scored her team-leading 11
th and 12
th goals of the season in the 31
st and 56
th minutes to put the Stars ahead 3-0.
Jessica Rosales (Schaumburg, Ill.) and
Gabriela Cossyleon (Chicago, Ill.) rounded out the Stars scoring.
Dominican outhsot the Muskies 15-5, putting eight shots on goal while Lakeland put all five shots on frame.
Megan Schulz picked up her fifth shutout of the season, improving to 8-4-1 in goal for the Stars.
The Stars return to action on Wednesday, traveling to North Park University to take on the Vikings in a non-conference tilt. The Stars will then host the MSOE Raiders on Saturday afternoon.
