th minute to lift Dominican past the Maroons in the season opener for the two Central Region powerhouses.

Ryan Roberts (Elmhurst, Ill.) weaved his way into the Chicago box, pressuring the Maroons’ defense into a costly error that gave the Stars an indirect kick from inside the Chicago six-yard box. On the indirect restart, Roberts rolled a pass to
Leo Elizalde (Wheeling, Ill.) who found the back for his first tally of the season.
The game-winner was the second golden goal of Lynch’s collegiate career. The Stars’ junior defender knocked home his first goal of his career as a freshman in the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship round of 16 in the 100
th minute to lift the Stars past Loras College.
Dominican, 19-1-2 last season, was outshot by the Maroons 10-8, with Chicago putting five shots on frame to the Stars’ three.
The Stars will return to action on Sunday, when they travel to North Park University to take on the Vikings. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Holmgren Stadium.
