Box Score The Dominican University women’s soccer team fell to the Elmhurst College Bluejays, 3-1, in non-conference action on Tuesday night, falling to 7-7-0 on the season.
Kelly Petty (Crystal Lake, Ill.) scored the lone goal for the Stars, her team-leading eighth of the season, in the 90
th minute of play in the losing effort.
The Bluejays opened the match’s scoring as Katie Baschen beat Dominican’s
Sara Stepanovich (Des Plaines, Ill.) on a volley in front of the Stars’ goal in the eight minute.
The Bluejays then carried a 1-0 lead into the second half before Elmhurst’s Shannon Pimmel notched what proved to be the game-winner in the 52
nd minute.
Five minutes later, Samantha Perry added an insurance goal for the Bluejays who improved to 7-4-2 on the season.
Elmhurst held an 18-10 advantage in shots, putting 12 shots on frame compared to just three shots on goal for the Stars.
The match was the final non-conference tilt of the season for the Stars who return to Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play on Saturday, traveling to Milwaukee, Wis., to take on the MSOE Raiders. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Time Warner Cable Stadium.
