Box Score The Dominican University women’s volleyball team came one step closer to securing its fifth straight berth in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Tournament on Wednesday night, topping the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons in three sets (25-13, 25-17, 25-18) to move to 8-1 in NAC play and 19-3 overall.
Jacy Lawrence (St. Louis, Mo.) paced the Stars’ offensive attack with 12 kills on 26 attack attempts.
Claire Dezelski (Northville, Mich.) knocked down nine kills and
Caitlen Foote (Dexter, Mich.) added eight of her own in the winning effort while freshman setter
Christina Wilson (Homer Glen, Ill.) dished out 22 assists.
Defensively, senior libero
Liz Yakey (Sun Prairie, Wis.) led a trio of Stars in double-digit digs with 15 digs while Wilson rounded out a double-double effort with ten of her own.
As a team, the Stars tallied seven total blocks, led by seven block assists by
Julie Schulenburg (Springfield, Ill.) while Lawrence assisted on four blocks.
Dominican will take on some of the nation’s top programs this weekend when the Stars travel to Holland, Mich., to take part in the Midwest Invitational. The Stars will take on the #9 Elmhurst College and #17 Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday before closing out the tournament with #2 Calvin and #5 Hope on Saturday.
