Box Score The Dominican University women’s soccer team saved its biggest offensive outburst of the season for the final home match of the year, putting up 13 goals in a shutout victory over the Rockford College Regents to claim the sixth and final spot in the 2012 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Women’s Soccer Tournament.
Kelly Petty (Crystal Lake, Ill.) led the way for the Stars with four goals, including what proved to be the game-winner in just the fifth minute. The Stars’ point leader on the season added an assist for a total of nine points in the winning effort.
Leah Tednes (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) and
Jen Russ (Downers Grove, Ill.) added two goals and an assist apiece while
Taylor Adler (Shorewood, Ill.) chipped in a goal and two assists.
Laura Yonke (Stevens Point, Wis.) tallied two goals in the winning effort and Jesse Rosales (Schaumburg, Ill.) and
Jessica Perri (Dana Point, Calif.) logged a goal and an assist apiece.
Dominican completely dominated possession in the match, ripping 48 shots, 26 on goal, while surrendering just one shot to the Regents.
With the win, Dominican moves to 8-10-0 on the season and 7-5-0 in the NAC. The Stars will travel to take on the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons, the three-seed in the NAC Tournament, on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. with the winner advancing to the NAC Tournament Semifinals on Tuesday, October 30.
