Stars Roll Past Rockford In Regular Season Finale

Box Score The Dominican University women’s volleyball team closed out the regular season of their 2012 schedule on Wednesday night, cruising past the Rockford College Regents in three sets (25-15, 25-12, 25-15) to move to 23-7 on the season and 11-2 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC). 
 
Jacy Lawrence (St. Louis, Mo.) paced the Stars with a match-high 14 kills, posting a blistering .609 hitting percentage with no errors on 23 swings.  It was the second time the Stars’ senior standout hit over .600 on the season, posting a .667 attack percentage against St. Mary on September 14 at the Carthage College Invitational.
 
Christina Wilson (Homer Glen, Ill.) just missed her team-best 11th double-double, logging seven digs while dishing out 22 assists.
 
Liz Yakey (Sun Prairie, Wis.) had nearly a quarter of the Stars’ 43 digs, logging ten digs in the winning effort.
 
Dominican now enters the 2012 NAC Tournament as the number three seed and will host the sixth-seeded Marian University Sabres in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, October 30.  The match is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start with the winner to face the winner of Benedictine-Wisconsin Lutheran in the semifinals on Thursday, November 1.
