Box Score The Dominican University women’s soccer team pitched a shutout on Wednesday afternoon, topping neighborhood rival, the Concordia University Chicago Cougars 3-0 on the road. The win improves the Stars to 5-2-0 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC), putting the Stars in a tie for fourth place with 15 points and five conference games remaining.
Leah Tednes (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) was credited with the game-winner, as she tallied her third goal of the season in the 15
th minute of play.
Kelly Petty (Crystal Lake, Ill.) also netted her team-leading sixth and seventh goals of the season, including converting a penalty kick in the 82
nd minute after the Stars’ forward was taken down in the box.
Freshman goalkeeper
Sara Stepanovich (Des Plaines, Ill.) picked up the shutout, facing ten shots and logging a season-high seven saves on the afternoon.
Dominican held a 16-10 advantage in shots, putting eight shots on goal while the Cougars managed seven shots on goal. The Stars also held a slight advantage in corner kicks, 5-4.
Dominican returns to action on Saturday, hosting the Lakeland College Muskies for a 3:30 p.m. tilt on the Stars’ West Campus Field.
