Box Score The Dominican University women’s volleyball team improved to 18-3 on the season and 7-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) with a four-set (25-16, 25-22, 21-25, 25-23) victory at Marian University on Saturday afternoon.
With freshman
Christina Wilson (Homer Glen, Ill.) running the offense and dishing out 25 assists,
Claire Dezelski (Northville, Mich.) shared match-high honors with 17 kills. The Stars’ junior outside hitter posted a .239 attack percentage on 46 attempts with just six errors.
Jacy Lawrence (St. Louis, Mo.) knocked down ten kills while
Caitlen Foote (Dexter, Mich.) and
Becca Fritz (Mount Carroll, Ill.) added nine kills apiece.
Defensively, libero
Liz Yakey (Sun Prairie, Wis.) logged 18 digs while Wilson completed a double-double effort with 12 digs of her own. As a team the Stars racked up nine total blocks with Fritz getting in on five of them.
With four conference matches remaining, the Stars sit one-half game behind the Edgewood College Eagles who are 8-1 in conference play. The Stars are currently tied for second with the Benedictine University Eagles. Dominican will continue NAC play on October 10, when the Stars travel to Mequon, Wis., to take on the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons. The match is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start.
