Stars Can't Handle Cardinals

Box Score The Dominican University women's basketball team committed Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) record 43 turnovers on Saturday afternoon, falling to the North Central College Cardinals 110-68 in non-conference action.

The Stars had previously held the record for most turnovers in a game committed by a NAC, committing 42 turnovers in a 73-61 loss at Beloit College back in November of 2006, the first-year of the conference.

Dominican held a 9-5 lead after Kaylee Paciora (Scottsdale, Ariz.) scored six straight points before the turnovers began to pile up.

North Central went on a 20-6 run to open a ten-point lead, 25-15, with 8:52 to play in the first half and never looked back.

The Stars, led by Katie Budz's (Orland Park, Ill.) season-high 20 points, shot over 40-percent from the field (25-for-62), but could not overcome all the turnovers and 30 offensive rebounds grabbed by the Cardinals.

Larynn Shumaker led five players in double-figures for the Cardinals, scoring 16 points off the bench.

Dominican University will travel to Rock Island, Ill., on Tuesday, taking on the Augustana College Vikings in a 7:00 p.m. tipoff in non-conference action. The Stars will then enjoy an 11-day break between games, traveling to Salem, Ma., to play in the Salem State Holiday Classic on December 29 and 30.
