Box Score The Dominican University women’s volleyball team opened Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play on Tuesday evening, topping the Concordia University Chicago Cougars in three sets, 25-16, 25-20, 25-21. The win was the 15
th consecutive NAC regular season victory for the Stars dating back to October 22, 2010.
With the scored tied 3-3 in the first set, freshman
Caitlen Foote (Dexter, Mich.) knocked down two of her five first set kills as the Stars opened a 7-3 lead. However, the Cougars were able to trade points with the Stars all the way to 19-15 before Dominican logged six of the final seven points of the set, including another Foote kill to end the set. The Stars logged a .346 hitting percentage in the first set, paced by Foote’s five kills in eight attacks with no hitting errors.
Jacy Lawrence (St. Louis, Mo.) closed out an ugly second set that saw the Stars manage just a .029 attack percentage with eight kills and seven errors on 35 attacks with one of her team-high seven kills.

Olivia Szuszkiewicz (Barrington, Ill.) opened a 13-12 lead for the Stars that they would not relinquish.

Becca Fritz (Mount Carroll, Ill.) shared team-high honors with 8.5 points in the match. Fritz logged six kills on 13 attacks to go along with three block assists and one service ace while Lawrence coupled one ace and one block assist to go along with her seven kills. Senior setter

The Stars improved to 7-2 on the season, picking up their fifth straight victory, and will travel to Milwaukee, Wis., on Thursday night to take on the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors.
