Stars' Streak Snapped By Edgewood

Box Score The Dominican University women's volleyball team saw its 12-match winning streak come to a halt on Friday night, as visiting Edgewood College swept the Stars, 25-14, 25-22, 25-23, to drop the Stars to 14-3 on the season and 4-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC).

The Stars, hitting .212 on the season, managed just a .058 attack percentage, committing 21 hitting errors while posting 29 kills. On the opposite side of the net, Mallory Palmer was nearly perfect for Edgewood, knocking down a match-high 16 kills on 37 attacks while committing just one hitting error.

Dominican's offense was paced by senior Jacy Lawrence's (St. Louis, Mo.) eight kills. Claire Dezelski (Northville, Mich.) added seven kills in the losing effort.

Defensively, Liz Yakey racked up 24 digs in the three-set loss while Becca Fritz (Mount Carroll, Ill.) logged four total blocks.

Dominican won't have to sit on the loss long, returning to action on Saturday afternoon when the Stars play host to the Maranatha Baptist Bible College Crusaders. The match is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start in the Igini Sports Forum.
