Box Score The Dominican University women's soccer team closed out the 2013 season on Wednesday afternoon, falling to their River Forest rivals, the Concordia University Chicago Cougars, 1-0 on the Stars' West Campus Field.
Alyssa Soulis's goal in the 14
th minute proved to be the game-winner in the tightly contested rivalry matchup. The tally was Soulis's 13
th of the season and came as she collected the rebound of a shot from teammate Elizabeth Sanders that rattled off the post before winding up on the foot of Soulis in front of the Dominican goal.
Stats were nearly identical for the two sides with the Cougars holding a slight 12-11 advantage in shots and a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. Dominican had the upper hand in restart opportunities, holding a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks and drawing 18 fouls while committing just 11.
The loss dropped the Stars to 3-12-1 overall and 3-7-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC). Dominican lost seven matches by one goal on the year, including a double-overtime loss in the Stars' second match of the season.
