Stars Downed By Raiders

Box Score The Dominican University women’s basketball team, looking for back-to-back wins for the first time this season, came up short against the MSOE Raiders, 53-44, on Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee.  Tied 25-25 at the half, the Stars managed to shoot just 8-for-22 from the field in the second half, going 3-for-9 from behind the three-point arc and 0-for-2 at the free throw line while the Raiders shot just over 40-percent from the field in the second stanza.
 
Freshman Allie Tapanes (Winfield, Ill.) led the Stars in the losing effort, scoring 11 points and grabbing six rebounds.
 
The Raiders had three players reach double-figures scoring, paced by Bre’Ana Strong’s game-high 19.  Courtney Samuels added 12 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds as the Raiders out-rebounded the Stars 41-27, including grabbing 15 offensive rebounds that led to 14 second chance points.
 
The loss drops Dominican to 1-21 on the season and 1-13 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC).  The Stars will return to the hardwood on Tuesday night, hosting the Concordia University Chicago Cougars for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff in the Igini Sports Forum.
