Box Score The Dominican University women's soccer team opened the 2013 campaign on Friday afternoon, falling to the Elmhurst College Bluejays 2-0 in River Forest.
 
The Bluejays got on the board in the 11^th minute as Kristie Waugh collected a pass from Sydney Goushas and found the back of the net after the Stars failed to clear the ball after an Elmhurst corner kick.
 
Elmhurst took the 1-0 advantage into halftime, outshooting the Stars 13-6 in the opening 45 minutes.  Sarah Stepanovich (Des Plaines, Ill.) faced seven shots in the first half, stopping six.  For the match, Stepanovich was tagged with two goals against on 18 shots on goal, logging 16 saves.
 
The Bluejays added an insurance goal in the 61^st minute after a Dominican foul gave up a restart from 25-yards out.  Jackie Belmonte was able to find the back of the net.
 
Offensively, Leah Tednes (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) got off five shots, putting three on frame for the Stars who managed 11 shots on the afternoon.
 
Dominican will sit idle until Saturday, September 7, when the Rhodes College Lynx comes to River Forest for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
