Box Score The Dominican University women’s soccer team took on the University of Chicago Maroons, ranked seventh in the Central Region in today’s NSCAA Division III women’s soccer regional poll, in River Forest, falling to the University Athletic Association powerhouse 5-2.

Ashly Torres (Franklin Park, Ill.) pulled Dominican within a goal as she lifted a shot over the head of the University of Chicago goalkeeper and just inside the far post from just inside the 18-yard box on the right flank. The score was the rookie’s first tally of the season.
The score remained 2-1 into the 53
rd minute when Torres played a ball over the top of the Maroons’ defense to teammate
Kelly Petty (Crystal Lake, Ill.). Petty carried the ball forward, drawing two defenders before sliding a pass to
Leah Tednes (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) who knotted the game at 2-2 with her first goal of the season.
The Maroons answered with two goals over the next four minutes to open a 4-2 lead. Chicago then added an insurance goal in the 78
th minute for the final score of the game.
The loss drops the Stars to 0-3-0 on the season. They will travel to Dubuque, Iowa, on Saturday to take on the University of Dubuque Spartans. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
