Stars Downed By NACC Front-Runners

Box Score The Dominican University women's basketball team fell to the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) leading Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons on Wednesday night, 87-43.

The Falcons led from wire to wire, shooting over 47-percent from the field (35-74) and pulling down 44 rebounds to just 35 rebounds for the Stars, including 18 on the offensive end, leading to 21 second chance points.

Allie Tapanes (Winfield, Ill.) and Alyssa Hernandez (Bartlett, Ill.) combined for 28 points, 14 each, in the losing effort for the Stars. The duo shot 12-for-25 from the field, with Tapanes knocking down two of her five attempts from behind the three-point arc. The rest of the Dominican lineup, managed just 15 points on 5-for-29 shooting from the field.

For the Falcons, Katie Luethe led all scorers with a game-high 19 points, going 3-for-4 from three-point distance. Megan Coenen added 13 points and hauled in a game-high nine rebounds as the Falcons improved to 13-1 on the season.

The loss drops Dominican to 0-15 overall and 0-10 in the NACC. The Stars will be back in action on Saturday as the host the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors. Tipoff is slated for 4:15 p.m. in Dominican's Igini Sports Forum.
